 How it began.

It was on a cold evening in December 1989; after a frigid day working on Mercer Island’s I-90 retaining wall that. I announced to my wife, I had the intention of starting my own construction company. I still remember the look of near horror on her face as she took in the news. Contemplating in silence for several minutes, she finally replied, “Well, if that’s what would make you happy.”…

Since then we have built 95 homes, performed a hundred plus remodels/additions, several small apartments, and a handful of commercial jobs. More than 30 years later we are still happily married and happily building.

Make your moves count

Those were the words spoken on my first day, and they are the words repeated in chorus in my mind throughout everyday since. I started framing houses for my father when I was 15. Now over a decade later and with many more skills under my belt it is my turn to make the effort towards running the family business. Between you and me, I cannot wait to build your dream home.

Looking toward the future

Our family tradition of providing housing started in 1946 with Glenn Armstrong's founding of Mechanical Drywall, drywall that new fangled thing to replace plaster. 28 years latter, Glenn and his partner, Bill Renn, started Cornerstone Inc, a home building company in Woodinvill WA. Where Craig Armstrong would first start sweeping and cleaning for his Dad. So, the tradition began of the son framing in the summer, sweeping after school and falling in love with building much to the dismay of the young son. Craig built two house for his Mom and Dad, the first in 2000, which completed passing the builder torch from generation to generation. Now as Craig nears retirement, The torch remains lit and we are getting in stride to pass it once more. Stay tuned.
